Posterous joins the Twitter family

Twitter and Posterous together, now.

1. For those of you who enjoy the blogging service Posterous Spaces, it seems prudent to know that they are now merging with Twitter, another great service. As it stands now, no changes are being made yet, but I am sure we can expect many great new innovations to come from the joining of these two services

   Today we are welcoming a very talented group from Posterous to Twitter. This team has built an innovative product that makes sharing across the web and mobile devices simple-a goal we share. Posterous engineers, product managers and others will join our teams working on several key initiatives that will make Twitter even better.

   Big news: Posterous has been acquired by Twitter! The opportunities in front of Twitter are exciting, and we couldn’t be happier about bringing our team’s expertise to a product that reaches hundreds of millions of users around the globe. Plus, the people at Twitter are genuinely nice folks who share our vision for making sharing simpler.

   This is one of the greatest days of my entire life. It all started in 2007 when the iPhone was released. The iPhone changed the world, and in an indirect way, it changed my life. The iPhone is what drove me to start Posterous, because I wanted an easier way to post my photos.
