#TechTipTuesday - Podcasting

Podcasting has become very popular these days and I thought I might share a few tools with you that will help you to start experimenting.

Top 3 things you will need
1. Microphone
2. Editing software
3. Hosting service

1. If you've a smart phone you've got a microphone built in it, and it's a great one to start with before you make a financial commitment to a separate microphone. Most laptops also have a built in microphone that you could try as well.

2. Audacity is a great free tool that many professional Podcasters use to edit their podcasts. You can download it here: http://audacityteam.org/

The software allows you to cut and edit easily by selecting what you want to remove using the familiar tools of highlighting and deleting.  It is also jam packed full of strong audio enhancing tools when you are ready to try new techniques.

3. Host your audio! SoundCloud is a great free platform that will let you host your audio Podcast. Create an account (if you've a Google+ account, you can use Google to log in) and upload your audio. You can then embed your posts or direct people to your souncloud page to listen to your podcasts.

Before you begin your podcasting journey you'll need one more thing, probably the most important thing:
AN IDEA!

Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing:
Book Chats
Read your parent email/blog post/ newsletter
Have your learners  share what they've learned this week
Read your learners work (short stories, poems, etc.)

The best ideas will come from your learners, ask them to decide what to share and set a regular schedule for sharing it.

I look forward to subscribing to your podcasts in the very near future!
